Charlie Schlatter was born
in Inglewood, New Jersey. It was in high school
that he fell in love with acting. He liked a girl
and auditioned for a school play of OLIVER
to impress her. He once said, "The girl didn't
only happen to be cute, she was also the only
girl at school that was shorter than me."
The audition was a success, and he got the leading
part of Oliver Twist. Later on, Charlie attended
Ithaca College, where he earned a B.F.A. in musical
theater. He starred in numerous plays there and
became a skilled musician, playing guitar, drums
and piano and writing songs. He spent his summers
appearing in summer stock. A casting director
spotted him and asked him to audition for a movie.
He didn't get the part, but did get a part in
Bright Lights, Big City
playing the younger brother of Michael J Fox's
character. His big screen debut was followed up
with major roles in the films
Heartbreak Hotel and 18
Again. On the small screen Charlie starred
in the television series Ferris
Bueller based on the1986 film. He went
on to play Dr. Jesse Travis for six years on the
CBS series Diagnosis Murder
opposite Dick Van Dyke. Recently he appeared in
the independent films White
Rush, Miss Castaway
and the upcoming Out At The
Wedding. Charlie has a prolific voice over
career starring in such animated series as Butt
Ugly Martians, Tom
and Jerry, Jackie Chan
Adventures, Grim and
Evil and Rugrats.
Charlie lives in Los Angeles with his wife Colleen
and their three children.
