Cathy was born in Yonkers, N.Y., the daughter of a cop. Shortly after she was born, the family moved to Bronxville, N. Y. where she grew up. A gifted natural athlete, by age 17, Cathy had become the most nationally sought-after athlete by universities that little Tuckahoe High had ever known- recruited in not one but three sports. Deciding to focus on Volleyball, Cathy accepted a full scholarship at the University of Kentucky to play for a top-five, Division I team.

During her collegiate athletic career she would set 3 university records in her sport that still stand and regularly competed against Gabrielle Reese. In 1991 Cathy played Volleyball in the United States Olympic Festival and brought home her first gold medal. In 1992, she brought home a second and had the National Team knocking on her door.

While her performances on the court kept her busy, she was increasingly drawn to the stage. A fellow UK student director by the name of Ashley Judd cast her in her first role in a play. After directing Cathy in a stage play and seeing her in another, it was Ashley who first encouraged her to pursue a career in acting.

At the pinnacle of her athletic success, in her senior year, Cathy suffered a knee injury that would terminate her Volleyball career. Undaunted, she turned to pursue her new love: acting. She headed to New York and auditioned for a place in the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. She graduated from AADA in 1994 and headed for Los Angeles.

Almost immediately Cathy had her first break. She landed a small part on Chicago Hope that would become a recurring role. Soon after, she was cast in various roles on The Pretender, Martial Law, Jenny, Pacific Blue and a recurring role on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Knowing that acting is all about understanding the human condition and ever eager to learn more about her craft and add new depth and awareness to her life, Cathy headed back to school and in 2003 earned her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.

Out at the Wedding marks Cathy's return to the acting field and a reconnection with Director Lee Friedlander. After working with Cathy on a short film a few years prior, Lee sought Cathy out for the role of "Risa" in Out at the Wedding, for which Cathy was recognized by the LOGO owned entertainment website, Afterellen.com's Visibility Awards, as the runner - up for "Best Lesbian/Bi Character in a festival released Feature" of 2007.

On the heels of shooting Out at the Wedding, Cathy was cast in a pilot produced by the LOGO television network called Exe's & Oh's, a half hour comedy created by and starring Michelle Paradise.

In January, Cathy finished shooting the feature film And Then Came Lola, where she played a supporting lead role opposite Jill Bennett (3Way, Dante's Cove, In Her Line of Fire). This film is due out for festival release this summer.

Next on the docket Cathy will be playing the lead role of Detective Charlie Forrest, opposite Jessica Graham's (2 Minute's Later) villan in a film called Tremble & Spark,  and is the first of what is to be a trilogy series of film noir style shorts. Filming begins this summer in Philidelphia.

Slate&Kelly marks Cathy's first endeavor as creator, producer and star of a production. Attached to this project with Cathy are Thea Gill (Queer as Folk), Michael Dorn (Star Trek The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Jill Bennett and Calpernia Addams, (Transamerican Love Story).

Cathy's newest endeavor is her own weekly video blog on Afterellen.com entitled What's YOUR Problem?.  The "vlog" makes use of Cathy's Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and features her with a different guest each week processing through the problems that viewers have written in about.   It's a fun twist on therapy and entertainment that includes a lot of silliness and fun mixed with a dose of heartfelt solid advice.
