Mystro went from college
student, to comedian, to Chemical Weapons Officer,
to Medical Technologist, to the star of his own
network show. His career has been a wild ride.
It all started at University of Dayton, where
Mystro received his B.S. in Medical Technology.
Mystro started doing stand up as a hobby in college.
He also enrolled in ROTC while in college. After
graduation he taught grade school science and
worked in a hospital lab, while doing stand up
comedy to raise money for medical school. Soon
after, Mystro was called to active duty in Desert
Storm. He served as an Army Chemical Weapons Officer.
After the war Clark moved to Los Angeles to become
a professional comedian and actor. His clever
story telling, and sniper-like observations quickly
got him noticed. He landed a spot on HBO’s
DEF COMEDY JAM, where he became a crowd
favorite and received standing ovations on each
appearance. This led to other comedy appearances
as well as a spot on the Def Comedy Jam National
Tour. Following his comedy appearances, Columbia
Tri-Star cast Clark in a syndicated sketch comedy
show called THE NEWZ.
This is where Mystro showed his impersonation
and improvisational skills. He also co-wrote some
of the sketches. When THE
NEWZ went off the air, major networks were
interested in developing a show for Clark. He
signed a deal with Warner Brothers Studios and
the sitcom THE SHOW
was created. Mystro played talk show host “Wilson
Lee.” THE SHOW
received great reviews from the critics, and the
public, but was later cancelled. The network was
uncomfortable with the edgy black/white story
line. Nevertheless, Mystro was named an “acting
talent on the rise” by such publications
as Newsweek, The New York Times, and USA Today.
Mystro went on to sign major development deals
with Disney Studios and Greenblatt/Janolarri Studios.
Clark also signed an exclusive agreement to take
over as host of the long running SOUL
TRAIN weekly series. Mystro was hand picked
by Don Cornelius who hosted the show for 30 years.
Clark has also made numerous comedy and dramatic
guest appearances on shows, as well as appearing
in several feature films, and commercials. His
first feature role was in CHAIRMAN
OF THE BOARD, with Carrot Top, Raquel Welch,
and Courtney Thorne-Smith. He then co-starred
with Dolph Lundgren in the action-thriller, STORM
CATCHER. Mystro also appeared in the films
WHITE MEN CAN’T JUMP and
CANDYMAN. If that isn’t enough, Mystro
also has a record label, Mystrotic Records, and
is working on his second rap album.
